Who is Tiger Woods?
Eldrick Tont or Tiger Woods was born on December 30, 1975. He was the only child of a retired lieutenant colonel from the Vietnam War and a mother originally from Thailand. Woods grew up in Orange County and was considered a golf prodigy at a very young age.

At the age of five, Wood participated in ABC’s That’s Incredible and in Golf Digest. He won various golf competitions before the age of 10. In 1984, Woods won the 9-10 boys’ event at the Junior World Golf Championship.

In 1989, Woods participated in his first major junior tournament. At the age of 15, he became the US Junior Amateur champion. Woods was the youngest person to achieve that until 2010 when Jim Liu broke his record. Tiger Woods is the only person to have won that championship three consecutive times.

In 1994, Woods began studying in Stanford on a golf scholarship. His major was economics. After two years, he decided to quit college and to begin a professional golf career.

Woods is currently the world’s number one golfer and according to Forbes magazine, he ranks among the richest athletes of all times.

The professional golfing career of Tiger Woods started in 1996. By 1997, he won his first major championship and reached the number one spot in the world’s golf ranking. Woods has been a very active athlete, though he took a break from golf from December 2009 to April 2010, in order to dedicate more time to his marriage.
